The story of Alte Zagen
How we grew from 6 friends to over 300
“Alte Zagen” is the name adopted by a group of 6 like minded men who met once each month to for lunch together .
We are made up of people mainly 60 years and over, retired, semi-retired and a few still working.
With no particular agenda, affiliations or goals we would simply renew old friendships and meet new people.
This group that started up over 10 years ago, offered a perfect environment for community and fellowship and soon members started inviting friends.
The group started with 6 friends who would meet once a month for lunch.
Then one friend invited another and then another and so it all started. 6 then 8 then twenty and so on.
Our numbers started to swell. So much so that we had trouble finding space in restaurants we could meet.
Now with over 300 members on our list we have found a new home at Jewish Care in Bondi Junction where we could meet and greet in a friendly atmosphere.
We provided a free light lunch and have introduced great speakers program.
This has become a great incentive for new people to join our group.
Our last meeting was attended by over 150 people
We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 12 pm,
Everyone is Welcome.
